All Levels: One Room, Every Stage of Practice

An All Levels class only works when the teaching is good enough to hold a room where some people are in their first year of practice and others have been at it for decades. That is a high bar. Our teachers clear it every time.

What makes it possible is the nature of the Iyengar Yoga method. Every posture can be taught with more or less complexity, more or less depth, more or less support. Classes are built around a family of postures with a physical or intellectual theme — so the sequencing always has a reason and the class always builds toward something.

In All Levels classes at Sthira Studios, you practice alongside people at different stages and find that it makes the room richer, not harder to navigate. Alternatives to inversions are always available. Your teacher is paying attention to you individually, not just to the room as a whole.

If you are new to Iyengar Yoga, we generally suggest starting with a Foundations class first. If you have some yoga experience and want to explore, All Levels is a good fit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have taken a few Foundations classes and feel comfortable with basic standing postures, you are likely ready. When in doubt, ask your teacher.

No. The culture here is genuinely welcoming, and the teaching is designed to work for everyone in the room.

Always. Props are part of the practice at every level. They help every student work more precisely.

Often yes, but please let your teacher know before class. For significant injuries, a private session or Foundations class is usually a better starting point.

Two to three times a week builds real momentum. Consistency over time matters more than intensity in any single week.
