THE PRACTICE

Therapeutic bodywork, not a spa treatment

A focused, therapeutic massage designed to reduce pain, release deep tension, and support recovery, so your body can move and function better. This is clinical, customized bodywork. Each session begins with a brief consultation, and the treatment is tailored to your goals and concerns and adapted to how your body is on the day rather than following a fixed routine.

This work is especially helpful if you are dealing with:

  • Chronic neck, shoulder, or head tension
  • Injury recovery or post-rehabilitation
  • Sports-related tightness or overuse
  • Ongoing muscular imbalance or stiffness
  • Stress held in the body

Combined with a mindful movement practice like Iyengar Yoga, bodywork helps release chronic holding patterns, improve mobility and ease of movement, support faster recovery from strain or injury, and reduce recurring pain cycles.

Tom Foster, LMT

Tom has been a licensed bodywork practitioner for 25 years. He studied with Bob King at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, in a curriculum that emphasized Swedish, sports, muscle therapy, and myofascial release approaches, and has since trained in manual lymph drainage, injury rehabilitation, and cupping. He considers the relief of chronic head and neck pain, and injury rehabilitation, to be his specialties. Bodywork is often marketed as a luxury. Tom's view is that it can be an essential part of a personal wellness regimen.
