Iyengar Yoga
Detailed instruction in how to do the postures, at every level from a first class to an advanced practice. Most classes run in the studio and live online.
THE PRACTICE
Precise, vigorous, and paced to learn
Every class is built the same way: clear instruction on how to do each pose, poses held long enough to feel them work, props where they help, and a sequence that changes week to week so your body moves through its full range of motion. You will work hard, and you will rest at the end.
As alignment comes into place, the body begins to show what it needs. Our teachers are trained to see that and respond to it, so you leave each class more balanced, more at ease, and more connected to how you move through the day.
WEEKLY SPECIAL TOPICS
Restorative Yoga
Fully supported poses held for several minutes each, so the nervous system can settle and the body can recover. The quietest hour of your week.
- Any experience level
- Bolsters, blankets, and time
- Ideal after a hard week, an illness, or poor sleep
Ropes Yoga
Familiar poses made new. Ropes anchored to the wall take your weight, so you can hang, traction the spine, open the shoulders, and hold poses that are hard to reach on the floor. Most people walk out taller. It feels playful, and your whole body feels it.
- Any experience level
- Backbends, inversions, and traction, supported by the wall
- Come curious
Yoga for a Healthy Back
This class is for anyone looking to care for their back. No experience necessary. Gentle, supported work for the spine that builds strength where you need it and releases what is tight, so your back feels better in the days that follow.
- Anyone with a stiff, tired, or achy back
- Gentle, supported work for the spine
- No experience needed
Yoga Philosophy Studio Group
We study yoga philosophy, from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali to the Bhagavad Gita and the writings of B.K.S. Iyengar, and talk about how to use what we learn to live a steadier, more examined life. We read slowly, a few passages at a time. No prior reading required. Come with questions.
- Any experience level, students and teachers alike
- Discussion, not asana
- Every other Sunday at 7 PM, online
